Blue Thunder: Picture Day
For some reason, one of the hottest days of summer is always soccer season's Opening Day / Picture Day. This year was no exception. At a couple degrees over one-hundred, it's always hard to corral the boys and keep them in line (from shortest to tallest, no less). But...we managed. (And the Blue Thunder banner rocks!)
As we were taking the individual photos, I overheard the announcement of a "coaches" game. I figured I'd stick around and see how it goes. Having played soccer as a kid for about 12+ years, pickup games after that, and now coached five different teams, I certainly have the skills to be "somewhat" competitive. However, my (cough...) conditioning is what is sorely lacking. And Saturday did not disappoint. While I had a great time playing in 100+ weather on an empty stomach and a single can of Sprite, my body gave up after about 45 minutes.
Apparently this game is a yearly event. And I figure, if I start to get in shape tomorrow, I just might be ready next year...
