Community Server 2007
If you follow any of the Telligenti blogs, you know that many have recently begun upgrading their sites to Community Server 2007 Early Edition :) I tend to join that kind of party a little late, so expect to see this site updated once Beta1 is released. Speaking of Beta1, many of you have been wondering when you'll get to first peek at the next major release of the product. Well, I'm happy to say that we're one step closer.
Today, we updated communityserver.org with the latest bits of Calypso (codename for the entire 3.0...er...2007 version). This is great news because it tends to be the last major step before we package a release. So please hammer away at the site, and let us know if you find any major issues. If nothing major comes up, you can expect that we'll be hard at work focused on getting you the bits within a short time (still need to update/verify installers and all add-ons).
This also means that you'll get to see what a Calypso install looks like. Be warned, we haven't updated the default theme, so don't expect a lot of eye candy. We've also spent most of our efforts on the major "pillars" of Calypso (Chameleon, Morpheus, Tallyman, BlogFileDrop). Since a lot of this is behind the scenes, you'll need to wait until you get the beta before deciding if you think it was worth the wait. But I'm sure you'll agree that this is the most exciting/anticipated release to date.
Invariably, someone will find an existing defect that hasn't been resolved. Rest assured that we do intend to nail many of these. And while we can't make any guarantees, most glaring issues should be resolved by the time we RTM. Also, with the recent service packs, we've already resolved most of the highest priority "bugs" found in CS 2.1.
So, without any further delay, go check it out!
