I've been tagged... (aka The Five Things Post)
So, ScottW tagged me today and while I normally don't do this...here goes. My list of five random things:
1. When I was in high school I placed 11th in the Internantional Jugglers Association Junior Championship. While I didn't do as well as I'd hoped, I'd only been juggling for about 1.5 years. I performed hat tricks, cigar boxes, 3-6 balls, 3-4 rings, and 3-4 clubs. I could flash 7 balls and 5 clubs, but not consistently enough.
2. An early goal of mine was to attend the Air Force Academy (on route to becoming a pilot and astronaut). As such, I was invited with a select few (< 200 nationally) to attend a week at West Point at the end of my junior year. While I had a blast that week, over the summer I decided that the commitment would be too much.
3. During my senior year in high school I ended up entering the AirGuitar (lip-synch) contest with a friend and we came in 1st place for our pre-scandal version of "Don't Forget My Number" by Milli Vanilli. Ultimately, when Rob and Fab were "found out", they ended up with a Grammy while we only got $250 for roughly doing the same thing. :)
4. After being burnt out with school and "the establishment", I left college (Berkeley), but was still voted (at least a month later) as the Hall Clown by my 250+ dorm-mates. (Maybe it was the juggling of ping pong balls with my mouth that won them over...) That led me to pursue computers/programming as a hobby (and possible career) and included a 1st place award in a game creation contest by Maxis.
5. I went to high school and played soccer with Matthew Lillard (Shaggy) and now watch any movie he's in (and they're definitely getting better...anyone remember Serial Mom?)
Kevin Harder, Dan Bartels, Ben Tiedt, Dave Burke, Dan Houshell...tag, you're it!
<update>
The wife read this post and said I missed the #1 thing...oops: Until age 18, I went by Joey instead of José.
