Community Server Contest II
If you recall, I blogged about our first contest, back in late January, which produced twenty free CSModules, all coded in a single weekend. While I didn't win any of the top three prizes, not even sure I got a single vote, I did submit five entries. (Yeah, I know what you're thinking, with five entries out of twenty, I should have walked away with something.) My entries were described here (Readability, EmailEncoder, SillyTranslator, Countdown, and my favorite ImageToText) I wasn't too disappointed about not winning because I didn't think I had any real compelling idea.
This time, in late June, Scott announced the launch of our second internal contest, Community Server Contest II. The Challenge was to "create the best add-on to the CS v2.1 Control Panel". This time, we were given just over three weeks to complete the challenge (on our own time, of course). So, instead of using the shotgun approach (thanks Kevin) I decided to think of a good idea, after all there was only one prize this time, and it was an XBOX 360.
As it turns out, for a variety of reasons, only a few people entered the contest (five total submissions). This time, everyone who entered came up with a really good idea, many of which will make it into future versions of CS (so I won't/can't talk too much about them). And, as it turns out, the judges decided to award two prizes.
So, if you've seen my IM recently ("Telligent's Antioch Office now XBOX 360 enabled...woot!") or noticed my gamercard here online (FajitaMan), you'll understand that I was one of the lucky winners. Kevin (aka AtomicGator) won the other XBOX 360.
I won't go into too many details in this post about my entry other than to say...think of Outlook Rules Wizard meets Community Server. More on "Merlin" soon...
