Great Board Games
While my kids' generation is all into computers and consoles, it's rare to see them excited about a board game. Board games are...well...boring. That is until today's shipment.
If you happened to drive past my house today after three o'clock, you would have seen three boys sitting in chairs on the grass waiting for our UPS guy, Chris. Since he's also a neighbor, he may drive by a couple of times, with no knowledge that we've got a package in the back of his truck. Every time I heard the loud rumble of the truck, the boys would sit up and wave as Chris drove by...until about 6pm, when it was finally our turn.
So what were they waiting for? Deflexion. While it came out late last year, I never heard about it until late last week. We figured it was a "cool" thinking game so we immediately found a good deal and purchased it. What makes it cool are the two lasers and the mirrors. In short, players move and rotate their pieces, most of which have a mirror, then fire a laser to see if they've destroyed the opponent. And while you can't see the beam from the laser, just the contact points, it still is quite a treat. (We'll probably either get some dry ice for a game night...or start smoking
)
We're still all trying to learn the strategy behind the game, but rest assured my boys will continue to beat me. I'm hoping it'll be another non-computer, non-console, past time for years to come...much like Terrace...
